Parashurama is the sixth avatar of Vishnu \. He is the son of Renuka and one of Jamadagni. He lived during the last Treta and Dvapara Yugas and is one of the Chiranjivi of Hinduism. Parshurama received a parshu (axe) from lord shiva. After completing his education of martial arts
lord parshurama destroyed kshatriyas twenty-one times over after the mighty king Kartavirya Arjuna, not the famous one of Mahabharata, killed his father. As per the Mahabharata, Parashurama single-handedly successfully conquered the entire world and killed crores of kshatriyas. Parashurama conducted hundreds of Ashvamedhas and gave away the entire earth he conquered as alms to sage Kashyapa. He plays important roles in the Mahabharata and Ramayana, serving as mentor to Bhishma, Drona and Karna.
Lord parshurama destroyed kshatriyas because once there was a king kartavirya arjun, he came and asked parshuram's father that give him his magical cow kamdhenu, he said no,then king killed him and took cow with him, then parshuram came and took the oath to kill kshatriyas 21 times.And he fulfilled his oath.
Parashurama is a mighty Maharathi and he will reappear as the martial instructor of Vishnu's 10th avatar Kalki.
